GSC seeks to hire an executive director committed to our mission who will help us realize our full potential as an environmental education and history center and conservation organization. We are looking for a mid-career professional with an advanced or 4-year degree in an environmental field, significant nonprofit management experience and a track record in fundraising. The successful candidate will be a resourceful, personable, and practical individual with strong communication, planning, and problem-solving skills, knowledge of Land Trust Standards and Practices and the ability to build relationships with community leaders and other organizations. Teaching experience would be a plus.


The GSC Executive Director:

  • Manages day-to-day operations of GSC’s nature center complex
  • Oversees development and delivery of GSC educational programs, including supervision of GSC’s conservation educator
  • Promotes GSC and communicates its mission and programs to the general public, business community, school systems, and other stakeholders
  • Ensures that GSC effectively stewards its easements and fee-owned properties
  • Supports the GSC board of directors in carrying out its responsibilities, including planning, budgeting, and program oversight
  • Assists GSC in implementing Land Trust Standards and Practices and in applying for and maintaining national accreditation
  • Develops partnerships and cooperative working agreements that support GSC’s mission, with federal and state agencies, Native tribal authorities, colleges and universities, and other non-profit organizations
  • Seeks grant and foundation funding opportunities; writes and administers grants
  • Assists GSC board of directors in raising sufficient funds to sustain and grow the organization
  • Manages GSC office and recordkeeping systems
